Lauren Pontier, 37, works in Roseville, California, as manager of global accounts at HelmsBriscoe. As a 2017 40 Under 40 honoree, Pontier discusses her passion for the events industry.
What I do: HelmsBriscoe assists clients in the site-selection process by sourcing, evaluating, recommending and ultimately negotiating with our client’s chosen venue. Personally, I pride myself on maintaining strong relationships with each of my clients, spending face time with each one as much as possible, and sharing the education HelmsBriscoe and the industry provide.
How I got here: Most of my early career was spent in restaurant management, but I always had my eye on the hotel business. After staying home for a couple of years with my young children, I was looking for a great opportunity to do something I was passionate about and still be able to be “Mom.” When I learned about HelmsBriscoe through a childhood friend, I had a lightbulb moment and knew right away this was the career I was meant for.
My greatest career accomplishment: I achieved President’s Club three out of my first four years with the company.
Impressive stats: I was named monthly top producer and rising star for the Western region multiple times, and also increased year-over-year booked revenue by more than 50 percent two years in a row.
What I do outside of work: I love to travel (although that’s part of my job too), take fun adventures with my family and plan get-togethers for our neighborhood friends.
