7 Creative Ways to Use Airstream Trailers at Events

Event planners are using the silver retro vehicles to promote Veuve Clicquot, Tito's Handmade Vodka, Dockers, and other brands.

Adding a vintage-chic vibe to events, Airstream trailers are being used as V.I.P. lounges, food-truck-like kitchens, and branded backdrops at activations. Here are seven examples of how the silver vehicles are being used at events.

The "Austin Airstream" from the Austin Convention & Visitors Bureau served as a mobile visitor center during this year's South by Southwest festival in March. The literal promotional vehicle had staffers greeting visitors and handing out swag and garnered 170 user photos on Instagram with the hashtag #ATXAirstream.

At this year's TEDActive, the silver trailer was one of many seating options in a station called the "Sovereign Nation of You." Attendees were encouraged to make representational flags for creative expression during meeting breaks.

Tito's Handmade Vodka
Tito's Handmade Vodka

At the inaugural Tortuga Music Festival in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, this spring, Tito's Handmade Vodka used an Airstream trailer in a beachfront activation. At the laid-back spot, guests could play games such as cornhole and Jenga and received Tito's swag.

Dockers

Dockers showed off its spring/summer 2013 collection on a three-city "Wear the Pants" tour with GQ magazine. Its customized Airstream trailer came stocked with several styles and colors of khaki pants that were free for guests. At its Chicago stop in April, grooming experts from Joe’s Barbershop provided complimentary trims and shaves for men visiting the trailer.

Veuve Clicquot
Veuve Clicquot

The Veuve Clicquot Airstream toured the country from March to June, kicking off the tour in Miami. For five days, the trailer parked in the courtyard of the Moore Building, home to a Keith Haring retrospective. Guests at an opening reception sipped flutes of champagne while the public could purchase Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label by the glass and bottle.

Customized vintage Airstream trailers toured the country as part of Sailor Jerry rum's "Hold Fast" promotion in 2011. The Airstreams had nautical, tattoo-style graphics on the exterior and fabrics printed with similar imagery inside.
