September 25, 2014: Rethinking How We Evaluate Events, Punk Club CBGB Looks to Global Expansion, What Cadillac's Move to New York Means

1. RETHINKING HOW WE EVALUATE EVENTS: After an event, too many times the planning team looks for the flaws rather than celebrates the accomplishment, according to columnist Jacqueline Wolven. Huffington Post: “I believe in constructive break downs of what we did great and what could have been done better. I believe in writing down real notes and thinking it through for next time. No event or public experience is perfect and there is always room for improvement.” http://huff.to/1v2RWOV

2. PUNK CLUB CBGB LOOKS TO GLOBAL EXPANSION: The iconic punk club CBGB—famed as helping to launch the Ramones and Blondie—is considering a global expansion, along with other licensing deals. While the original location closed in 2006, the brand has continued through such things as the CBGB Music and Film Festival, which runs October 8-12. Hollywood Reporter: ”For 37 years, CBGB was home to punks, misfits and lovers of music," said CBGB president Tim Hayes. "We want to create the same sort of environment where people can come together in other cities. We've had a request from Tokyo." http://bit.ly/1DyeIC2

3. WHAT CADILLAC'S MOVE TO NEW YORK MEANS: As part of General Motors' decision to separate its Cadillac luxury brand as a separate business unit, Cadillac will move to the SoHo neighborhood in New York. And the choice of venue was strategic. USA Today: ”It said the new headquarters will be a ‘multipurpose brand and event space in conjunction with modern loft offices located in the heart of a city renowned for establishing trends and setting standards for the global luxury market.’” http://usat.ly/1riCmfm
