1. GLOBAL CITIZEN FESTIVAL FINDS PARTNER IN MSNBC: The Global Citizen Festival, a six-hour concert in Central Park that took place Saturday, had an unlikely media partner: MSNBC. A music network might seem like a better fit, but the left-leaning network could capably report on issues central to the concert’s mission of drawing attention to extreme poverty and will continue the relationship. TVNewser: “This was the third Global Citizen Festival, and the first time MSNBC has been involved. MSNBC president Phil Griffin says it won’t be the last. ‘I can tell you we’re pretty much committed to doing next year. I guarantee it,' he said. ‘This aligns with our values. 2. INNOVATING BRAND IN GOLF SPONSORSHIPS STEPS ASIDE: Humana announced it would stop sponsoring a P.G.A. Tour event in La Quinta, California, next year, ending a pioneering sponsorship model. Sports Business Journal: “The Humana Challenge in partnership with the Clinton Foundation became a unique stop on the tour each January. Not only did Humana’s sponsorship save the former Bob Hope Desert Classic, but former President Bill Clinton attended each year and used his foundation to stage a Health Matters conference, which shines a light on health and wellness issues. It was a new model for the tour—combining sponsorship with a broader social issue—and it provided the tournament with a newfound flair that it had been lacking in previous years.” http://bit.ly/1uyo528

3. HAVE YOU JOINED ELLO?: A new social networking site called Ello has emerged as an alternative to Facebook, and whether brands can—or should—have a home there is up for debate. The network does not sell ads, but brands can create their own profiles; Sonos was the first and has been criticized for it. Medium: “Sometimes rebelling is good. Sometimes rebelling can gain you traction. This is not one of those times. Sonos is acting out of turn, and their presence on Ello is like the digital equivalent of double-parking. Major League Gaming announced an exclusive partnership with NCompass International to develop worldwide gaming events. The companies will develop and produce events to broadcast on MLG.tv and will collaborate on MLG Pro Circuit events and the design and development of the first MLG Stadium in China slated to open in 2017.
