Mother Nature spared New Yorkers snow until late in the season, but guests of former Calvin Klein model Natalia Vodianova’s Naked Heart Foundation’s “To Russia With Love” benefit experienced mild flurries they could play in—even with their fashionable coats checked. Pam Bristow produced an Antony Todd-designed wintry Russian-theme event with faux falling snow inside Diane Von Furstenberg’s studio.
At the entrance, snow fell from snow machines into a reflecting pool dotted with flower petals and floating candles. Caterwaiters—outfitted in fur hats—served Russian favorites from Food in Motion like caviar and individual servings of borscht. Okamoto Studio created four large, pillar-like ice sculptures that bordered a central bar. Sheets of red fabric hung from the ceiling, adding color to white leather furniture grouped into chic seating areas. Mirrored flooring reflected light from candles in plexiglass trays that hung from the ceiling.
An auction benefited the foundation’s work to help imperiled children of Beslan. Unique items included two tickets to Clive Davis’ Grammy awards party, a week at Von Furstenberg’s home in the Bahamas, private fittings for a couture outfit from Karl Lagerfeld and Vera Wang, and a Jade Jagger-designed engagement ring.
Guests took home luxe gift bags—shiny pink Gap messenger totes—that included Burberry Touch, Calvin Klein Obsession Night, and Marc Jacobs Blush fragrances, Go Smile teeth whitening kits, Diane Von Furstenberg lip and eye pencils, and a $5,000 gift certificate to charter jet company Blue Star Jets.
