10 New Atlanta Venues for Fall Meetings and Events

Jenna BerrisBeth Kormanik
September 19, 2013

Here's a look at the best new and renovated venues in Atlanta such as corporate event venues, party rooms, conference centers, restaurants with private rooms, unique venues, and more. These event and meeting spaces can accommodate groups large or small for fall entertaining including business dinners, cocktail parties, conferences, and private and corporate events.

Befitting a classic American theme, Ford Fry named his 7,900-square-foot King & Duke after two characters from Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Much of the menu, including desserts, is cooked on a 24-foot wood-burning hearth as well as a patio space. The restaurant is available for buyouts. The main dining room seats 145, the mezzanine fits 35, the private Drawing Room accommodates 14, and a patio seats 80.

Following a multimillion-dollar renovation, the 194-room Hyatt Atlanta Midtown opened in the former Hotel Midtown. The hotel offers 3,903 square feet of meeting space divided into three rooms, with the capacity for events of as many as 100 guests. The rooms have amenities such as built-in drop-down screens, natural light, and pre-function spaces. Other gathering spaces at the hotel include a restaurant, Fork & Juniper, as well as Bar Juniper.

Sweetwater Brewery expanded its formerly 4,000 square feet to what is now a 26,000-square-foot operation with three private event spaces. They include a 3,776-square-foot room, which can be combined with a 2,089-square-foot space to seat as many as 250 or hold 450 for receptions. A 521-square-foot patio is also available.

Olmsted has transitioned from a restaurant into a full-time event venue. Individual spaces at the Midtown facility include the Piedmont Room with floor-to-ceiling glass walls, a patio, and views of an outdoor garden; it seats 140 or holds 200 for receptions. The Crescent Room offers skyline views and seats 70 or holds 150 for receptions. Event packages include audiovisual equipment, decor, and entertainment, as well as bar and catering services.

Now the largest hotel in Gwinnett County, the Sonesta Gwinnet Place opened in late May and offers 16,000 square feet of meeting space spread across 18 rooms. The 8,000-square-foot Georgia Ballroom holds 1,000 guests, and the Gwinnett Room seats 100 theater-style, 70 classroom-style, or as many as 35 people for a conference.

6. Stillhouse

As its name implies, Stillhouse uses moonshine as the base of its cocktails. The spirit even finds its way onto the menu in Coca-Cola-teriyaki-moonshine-marinated chicken and moonshine mussels. The primary food focus, though, are burgers that often come with cheese and other ingredients baked onto the bun. The eatery's design evokes the era with Edison pendant lights, chalkboard menus, and whiskey-barrel tables. For events, the venue seats 58 indoors and 48 outdoors.

For meetings near Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the recently renovated Renaissance Concourse Atlanta Airport Hotel offers runway views from many of its updated rooms and 35,000 square feet of meeting space. The refresh included soundproofing its guest rooms as well as a revamp of its 11-story atrium and concierge lounge.

The small plate and cocktail haven Proof & Provision opened in June in the Georgian Terrace Hotel's 3,000-square-foot basement. The subterranean location and design touches such as distressed signage, wine barrels, and exposed brick lend a speakeasy feel to the space. Glass pendant lights fabricated from wine bottles hang over the booths. There are three seating areas: a dining room, a lounge, and a bar with booths. The space is available for private events and seats 94 or holds 150 for receptions.

Opened earlier this month, Ink & Elm is a 7,000-square-foot Southern dining concept in Emory Village. There are three main spaces: the casual tavern, the main dining room, and lounge for pre- or post-meal drinks or locally sourced, organic oysters, cheese, and charcuterie. A private dining room seats 20 or holds 35 for receptions in a room with a fireplace, large frontage window, and two centerpiece tables that resemble drafting tables similar to those inside architect Frederick Law Olmsted’s studio.

Zinburger Wine & Burger Bar, a gourmet burger, milkshake, and wine concept originally based in New Jersey, will open this winter in Lenox Square Mall. The 5,600-square-foot eatery will seat 196 inside and have a 30-seat patio facing Peachtree Road.
