Tecumseh Y. Deloney, CMP, CGMP, describes herself as reliable, efficient and tenacious. Learn more about her.
What I do: I participate in and contribute to planning for all meetings and conferences (live and virtual); develop and disseminate request for proposals to identified properties and vendors; provide oversight management for conference logistics pre, post and on-site; manage and staff exhibit booth at national conferences.
Greatest career accomplishment: I was elected to serve in a leadership role with the Society of Government Meeting Professionals, which allows me to serve as a voice for 1,700 members on the value of their return on investment. I also represented 21st Century Expo Group’s Chief Executive Officer at the table during carpenter labor union negotiations.
Impressive stats: Utilizing a network of hotels through my membership with the Society of Government Meeting Professionals afforded me opportunities to save thousands of dollars on every meeting throughout the five-year contract award. Also, contracting multiple meetings within a year with an outside AV vendor saved 15-20% annually
Specific improvement I’ve made: I supported and helped shepherd the Early Head Start National Research Center’s government contract, from an antiquated registration process through the transition of using a ticketed pre-registration system for our annual conferences.
What I do outside of work: I serve on the Society of Government Meeting Professionals’ National Board of Directors as Secretary and am a member of the Pilgrim Baptist Church Missions Ministry and served on the 2018 Debutant Committee.
