Charlie Palmer shuttered Alva a few months ago, but after a quick makeover by designer Martin Vahtra, the space reopened last week as Kitchen 22 with a brighter look and more soothing color palette. The venue features a 12-seat bar decorated with illuminated globe lamps in the front, and a small 60-seat dining room in the rear. Giant lampshades are suspended from the ceiling above the tables lining the walls, and slate blue banquettes line the opposite wall. Kitchen 22 can hold 100 for cocktails, and can accommodate lunchtime events any day or close-outs on Sundays. —Suzanne Ito
