There are a lot of rental companies out there, and when you're looking for something specific, like a blue chair or black tufted sofa, it can be hard to see several options at once. RentalComp is a Web site with a searchable database of more than 30,000 rental items, from chairs to heat lamps to dance floors. Planners can search for items by keyword, which produces a gallery of thumbnail images that can be enlarged and printed. To find out how much a piece costs, the site allows users to email the vendors directly for a quote.

Also included: "email" and "save" options. The service is free, although there is a charge for vendors who want to list their products. At this time, the majority of the rentals are based in Southern California, but RentalComp is growing its listings in other cities and plans to fully launch in New York, Boston, Washington, Orlando, Miami, Chicago, and Las Vegas by the end of July.
