Tico, the Latin-inspired restaurant and bar from chef Michael Schlow, officially opened on February 9 in the former Cottonwood Café space in the Back Bay. One of Boston's most anticipated new venues of 2011, Tico holds 252 and is available for buyout.
A semiprivate dining room seats 30. With two- and four-top tables and larger, rectangular communal seating, the lounge seats 70. A dark wooden bar with overhead lanterns seats 15. The “kitchen counter” is a barlike space with eight seats that overlooks a small kitchen.
Tico’s menu draws inspiration from Spanish, South American, and Mexican cuisine and includes tacos and small plates of items such as fried calamari with ancho chili-lime aioli. Entrées include seared red snapper with brussels sprout and bacon salad, and the tequila list offers more than 100 options.
This summer, Tico plans to expand its private event capacity to include space for 350.
