On Wednesday, ION Television toured New York in its mobile candy store, promoting the festive movies featured on the network this month. Created by vice president of marketing Chris Addeo, director of marketing Seth Brown, and senior director of ad sales marketing Frank D’Agostino as a thank-you gesture to ION’s advertising executive clients, the truck, provided by Lime Media, traveled to eight stops around the city and reached 13 agencies, distributing candy provided by David’s Catering.
Select clients, who were notified by email, had to show a pass in order to gain entrance to the truck. Two servers from the Michael Alan Group wore backpack tanks filled with either apple cider or hot chocolate. They stood outside the truck, handing out the drinks to those waiting in line to be admitted.
Once inside the truck, visitors filled tins with dried apples, chocolate-covered cranberries, pretzels, and other treats. The interior was decorated with festive holiday bows, giant presents, and ION logos. One side featured all the bins of candy in a buffet line, which made the somewhat cramped space easier to navigate. Both sides of the truck had full windows, so outsiders could look in at the merriment. The truck also featured a screen showing clips of ION’s holiday movies as well as a special drawing for a free iPad for the guest who guessed the closest number of peppermint candies inside a plastic box.
