AUSTIN: The Live Oak Patio at the Sheraton Austin Georgetown Hotel is now open. The 2,200-square-foot outdoor event space holds 130 guests for receptions and 100 guests seated.
CHICAGO: The 2019 Chicago Flower & and Garden Show, “Flowertales: the Story Grows On,” will run March 20-24 at Navy Pier.
LOS ANGELES: The BeachLife Festival has partnered with World Surf League to host the 19th annual Big Wave Awards on May 2. The ceremony is on Redondo Beach, which is where the inaugural festival will take place May 3-5.

MIAMI/SOUTH FLORIDA: The Wharf, a pop-up event space, will open on Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale later this year. The 30,000-square-foot venue is slated to host a variety of events focused on food, music, and culture.
NEW YORK: The event community is mourning the loss of Harriette Rose Katz, who passed away on March 8. An event designer and wedding planner, Katz was the founder and president of Gourmet Advisory Services, and worked in the industry for more than 40 years. At Gourmet Advisory Services, she helped design and manage more than 5,000 events, from social gatherings and fund-raisers to Fortune 500 conferences and celebrity weddings. Feroce Ristorante, Feroce Caffe, and Bar Feroce, a trio of Italian concepts from restaurateur Francesco Panella and Tao Group, have opened at Moxy Chelsea. Feroce Ristorante seats 132 guests and has a private dining room inspired by 20th century Milan and Rome.
The 19th Monte Cristo Award Gala will take place April 22 at the Edison Ballroom. Lin-Manuel Miranda will give opening remarks, while Michael Douglas will present the award to playwright and screenwriter John Logan.
Shiraz Creative has appointed Stavros Tripi its new vice president of the New York office. Tripi is formerly executive director of global events for Mac Cosmetics.
