ALBUQUERQUE: Taos Ski Valley has debuted a conference and catering business after undergoing a $10 million renovation of its event and wedding spaces. The resort offers nearly 50,000 square feet of event space, including the Phoenix Lodge, which holds as many as 250 people for receptions; and the Rio Hondo Learning Center, which has eight meeting spaces and holds as many as 200 people standing.

CHICAGO: Autograph Collection Hotels will debut the Drake Oak Brook by the end of 2019. The Frank Sinatra-inspired hotel will have 154 rooms and 12 meeting rooms that total 22,432 square feet of space. 

LOS ANGELES: The Los Angeles Tea Festival will take place August 10-11 at Magic Box at the Reef.

MIAMI/SOUTH FLORIDA: Grateful Palate Catering & Events in Fort Lauderdale reopened June 20 after undergoing a renovation led by Deborah Frustino of Mountainside Design. The 4,000-square-foot event space now features a deep blue color palette and illustrations of birds. 

NEW YORK: The eighth annual Long Beach International Film Festival will take place July 31-August 3. 

RuPaul’s DragCon N.Y.C. will take place September 6-8 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

The Abbey Inn & Spa is slated to open in the converted St. Mary’s Convent in Peekskill in early 2020. The boutique hotel has named Gilbert Baeriswil general manager; Olivia Calcagnini director of sales and marketing; John Paidas executive chef; and Eileen Whitney director of catering.

SAN FRANCISCO: The American Craft Show will take place August 2-4 at the Form Mason Center for Arts & Culture. The event will include an artisanal food and beverage marketplace, a juried showcase of emerging artists, and the chance to shop from more than 250 jewelry, clothing, furniture, and home decor artists.

SEDONA, ARIZONA: Ambiente, a Landscape Hotel, will open in late 2020. Owned and managed by Two Sister Bosses, the hotel will consist of 40 cubed-shape guest atriums that are elevated above the ground by steel piers and constructed using floor-to-ceiling, bronze-tinted glass, matte-charcoal, and rusted metal.

VANCOUVER: Variety: "Jacqueline Dupuis will be stepping down as executive director of the Vancouver International Film Festival... After eight years in the post, Dupuis is departing to pursue other interests. She will leave the position after the 38th annual festival, which runs September 26 through October 11."

WASHINGTON: Washington Business Journal: “In its first year under the management of local entrepreneur Mark Ein, the Citi Open tennis tournament has partnered with Levy Restaurants Inc. to bring on new food and retail vendors, including concepts from José Andrés' ThinkFoodGroup.”
