INDUSTRY NEWS: The Association for Women in Events (AWE) announced this year’s inductees for the Women in Events Hall of Fame Recognition Program. The Trailblazer was awarded to Brad Weaber, principal at Brad Weaber Consulting Group; the Coach was awarded to Sharon Bonner, founder and C.E.O. of Bright Ideas Events; Woman of Influence was awarded to Marin Bright, founder and C.E.O. of Smart Meetings; Emerging Leader was awarded to Stacey Thorp, executive director of conferences and events at Freeman; and Organizational Leadership was awarded to KiKi L’Italien, C.E.O. of Amplified Growth and chief growth officer and host of Association Chat.

The International Live Events Association (ILEA) has announced its international board of governors and regional vice presidents for the 2019-2020 fiscal year. The international board of governors officers include president Jennifer Trethewey, managing director of JTG Global in Port Melbourne, Australia; president-elect Dana L. Macaulay, director of experiential marketing for Sonoma County Vintners in Santa Rosa, California; treasurer and secretary Alexis Gorriaran, senior director of marketing and branding for (Add)ventures in East Providence, Rhode Island; and immediate past president Sara Grauf, senior vice president of Giants Enterprises in San Francisco, California. BALTIMORE: The Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace Hotel has completed a multimillion-dollar renovation of the property’s 622 guest rooms and suites. 

CALGARY: The Canadian Country Music Association’s C.C.M.A. Awards, presented by TD, will air live on Global on September 9 from the Scotiabank Saddledome. Dallas Smith and Billy Ray Cyrus will co-host the ceremony. 

LOS ANGELES: Goldenvoice’s Zedd in the Park festival will take place September 7 at Los Angeles Historic State Park. The event is headlined by DJ and producer Zedd.

NEW ORLEANS: The Bon Vivants surpassed its fund-raising goal of $500,000 and 10,000 volunteer service hours performed with two events during Tales of the Cocktail. The events, the 10th annual New Orleans Pig & Punch and the Day of Service, were held in partnership with Edrington Americas, Tales Of The Cocktail Foundation, the Daily Beast, and D.b.a. New Orleans.

NEW YORK: The fifth annual CurvyCon, presented by Dia & Co., will take place September 5-7 at Center 415 during New York Fashion Week. 

Film at Lincoln Center’s 57th annual New York Film Festival will take place September 27-October 13. The event will showcase films from 17 countries.

On August 15, Brooklyn-based coffee company Partners Coffee’s Williamsburg location will host the New York leg of the Ramp Up Road Tour, a free, coffee-focused event that’s part of the nationwide tour of Rancilio, an Italian espresso machine manufacturer. The tour celebrates the launch of Rancilio’s RS1 espresso machine.

SAN DIEGO: Omni La Costa Resort & Spa has promoted food and beverage director Adam Solowitz to executive chef.

TAMPA: The 17th annual Spooky Empire thriller convention will take place October 31-November 3 at the Tampa Convention Center. 

TORONTO: Toronto Fashion Week will take place September 3-5 in Yorkville. Fashion House is a new venue this year, with events also taking place at Yorkville Village, the Hazelton Hotel, and the Royal Ontario Museum.

VANCOUVER: Startup Fashion Week’s Vancouver edition will kick off with a preview party on August 15 at the Leisure Center.
