MIAMI: Jazz trumpeter and composer Terence Blanchard and conceptual artist Teresita Fernández will be honored with Arison Awards at the National YoungArts Foundation’s annual Backyard Ball on January 11, 2020. Set to be presented by jeweler Harry Winston, the awards will spotlight Blanchard’s and Fernández’s contributions to the arts alongside the achievements of the 2020 YoungArts award winners, celebrating the most accomplished young artists in the literary, visual, and performing arts.
NEW ORLEANS: The Higgins Hotel & Conference Center has appointed award-winning chef Virgile Brandel as executive chef. The National WWII Museum’s New Orleans property is slated to open in December with four dining outlets and a distinct 1940s theme.
NEW YORK: Highgate Hotels has appointed Barbara Christoph as general manager at Arthouse Hotel New York City. The move marks a return to Highgate for Christoph; she previously was with the company at the former On The Ave Hotel. Arthouse is planning to undergo a multi-million renovation next year.

WASHINGTON: NTP Events has been contracted by the Association for Vision Research and Ophthalmology to facilitate sales and oversee exhibitor services for the association's first international meeting. NTP Events also announced a three-year contract extension to manage booth sales, exhibitor marketing, and exhibit operations for the ARVO Annual Meeting.
