CHICAGO: The Chicago Sports Commission on December 10 will present a panel discussion among the stakeholders planning the 69th NBA All-Star Game, which will be in February. The event is being held in the Windy City for the first time in three decades.

LOS ANGELES: The second annual Motherf*cker Awards take place on December 3 at the Miracle Theater in Inglewood. The tongue-in-cheek event celebrates corporations, politicians, and lobbyists that have "f*cked Mother Earth" in 2019; top comedians accept awards on their behalf. Winners this year include the fracking industry, single-use plastics, and the global firearms industry. 

The Black Rebirth Collective will host its inaugural "Reaching Higher and Higher" fund-raiser on January 18 at the Nate Holden Performing Arts Center.

MIAMI/SOUTH FLORIDA: Norwegian Cruise Line, a longtime supporter of Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade, donated its new billion-dollar ship, Norwegian Encore, for the nonprofit organization’s 13th Annual Wild About Kids Gala, which was held November 16 and 17 and raised over $1.4 million. 

NEW YORK: Winter’s Eve at Lincoln Square will take place Monday night for the 20th year. The festival will feature a tree-lighting ceremony at Dante Park, a headline performance from Ronnie Spector & The Ronettes, additional free entertainment and activities, and food for purchase from area restaurants. Many neighborhood retailers also will offer discounts or complimentary services during the event.

WASHINGTON: Thompson Hotels, a luxury lifestyle flag within Hyatt Hotels Corp., is slated to open a 225-room hotel with a fitness center, 4,000 square feet of meeting space, a street-level restaurant, and a rooftop bar this month. Restaurateur Danny Meyer is involved in the project.
