INDUSTRY NEWS: Event technology company AvaStar has named Steve Oliver general manager. Oliver brings over 25 years of industry experience to the role.

HOUSTON: Benchmark has appointed John Annicchiarico as vice president, sales operations. He previously served as vice president of sales for Salamander Hotels & Resorts.

LOS ANGELES: The team behind E.P. & L.P. plans to open Grandmasters Recorders, a multi-level restaurant and rooftop lounge, in Hollywood this summer. The venue will have a 130-seat dining room, a late-night bar, and a rooftop that holds as many as 300 people.

The Beverly Hilton will unveil a $35 million transformation in April, which will renovate the hotel's 566 guest rooms and indoor-outdoor event spaces.
