Industry News: The 2020 Olympic Games Postponed Due to Coronavirus, Canadian Opera Company's Annual Fund-raiser, the 55th Academy of Country Music Awards, and More

NATIONAL: The 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo have been officially postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Major League Soccer has extended the postponement of its matches. The league has a target return date of May 10 and may decide to play the M.L.S. Cup in December.

LAS VEGAS: The 55th Academy of Country Music Awards will now air live on CBS on September 16. Keith Urban will host. The Dick Clark Productions-produced show was previously scheduled for April 5; CBS will now use that date for a new special featuring at-home acoustic performances from top country artists. 

Freed's Bakery has expanded its takeout and delivery offerings to include fresh breads, two-layered cakes, and decorating activity kits. The products are all discounted by 50 percent.

LOS ANGELES: Insomniac Events' Beyond Wonderland Virtual Rave-a-Thon drew more than 3.5 million views worldwide on Friday and Saturday nights. The lobby of Insomniac's Los Angeles headquarters was transformed with effects, lighting, and lasers, while a small live stream crew captured performances from the likes of 4B, Audien, Dr. Fresch, and Dress.

TORONTO: The Canadian Opera Company will host its annual fund-raiser—this year dubbed Operanation: Club Opera—on May 27 at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts, where each floor of the venue will boast its own immersive experience. Benefiting the company’s Ensemble Studio training program for young artists, the event will boast pop-up and roaming performances, interactive installations, curated cocktails, and fare.
