WHCD Canceled, Details on TIFF 2020, a Pride Concert Series, and More

NATIONAL: Digital Pride concert series OUTLOUD: Raising Voices will return on June 25 with headliners Allie X, Amara La Negra, JoJo, and more. The series offers a platform to a diverse lineup of queer and allied artists. Future episodes will premiere on Tuesdays and Thursdays weekly via OUTLOUD's Facebook and Instagram accounts, through July 16. 

ATLANTA: The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee, reopened on June 22 with new health and sanitation protocols. The lakeside resort also debuted a multimillion-dollar renovation with updates to the guest rooms, suites, and the Ritz-Carlton Club Level Lounge. 

LOS ANGELES: AEG and Mobilitie are partnering to bring wireless technology and connectivity to Staples Center and its adjacent 4-million-square-foot sports and entertainment district, L.A. Live. The expanded agreement was brokered by AEG Global Partnerships and will facilitate the arrival of 5G technology.

NEW YORK: Founders Entertainment will host its "From the Vault" Governors Ball series via YouTube on June 25-26 to support the Equal Justice Initiative, Food Bank for New York City, and Crew Nation. The two-night event will feature full sets of past Governors Ball performances from Travis Scott, The Black Keys, Post Malone, and Major Lazer.

TORONTO: TIFF has revealed more details for its hybrid physical-digital 2020 festival, which runs from September 10-19. Fifty film premieres are slated, with both physically distanced in-person screenings and online viewing available through a new partnership between TIFF and video streaming platform Shift72. There will also be drive-in and outdoor experiences, and special guests this year include Ava DuVernay, Taika Waititi, Anurag Kashyap, Nicole Kidman, and Martin Scorsese.

WASHINGTON: The White House Correspondents’ Dinner has been canceled. The event had originally been postponed from April to late August; organizers hope to host a virtual event to honor award winners and scholarship recipients later this year.
