US: Dessert Goals' First-Ever Virtual Event, Walt Disney World Resort's Reopening, and More

NATIONAL: Dessert Goals, a sweets-focused festival, is hosting its first-ever virtual event on July 31 and Aug. 1 after originally being scheduled to take place in New York in May. The "Creamsicle Dreamsicle"-theme event will stream via Vimeo and Zoom. Festival founder Miraya Berke will present virtual panels, baking demos with celebrated chefs, a birthday celebration, dessert happy hour, an energizing morning fitness class, family-friendly activities, a keynote speech, and more. Tickets go on sale July 9 for $25, with $1 of each ticket donated to No Kid Hungry. 

ATLANTA: Hyatt Hotels Corporation announced the expansion of the Thompson Hotels brand throughout the Southern United States with deals for two new properties—Thompson Savannah and Thompson Buckhead—expected to open in Georgia in 2021.

LAS VEGAS: The Neon Museum now offers a 360 Virtual Tour, allowing visitors to “move” throughout the Neon Boneyard’s sign collection, exploring more than 130 informational hotspots. The 360 Virtual Tour offers an Evening Glow experience as guests tour the museum at night while the signage is illuminated. Viewing is available for $10 via a computer, smartphone, or tablet.

LOS ANGELES: Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra announced that its first-ever summer chamber music series, â€œLACO SummerFest,” will stream every other Saturday from July 11 through Sept. 5. LACO SummerFest includes five concerts, each spotlighting several LACO artists and special musical guests performing together live at Zipper Hall. It will be among the first classical music ensembles in the country to resume gathering together for live performances—with social distancing and no audience.

ORLANDO/CENTRAL FLORIDA: The Walt Disney World Resort will partially reopen this weekend. The Magic Kingdom Park and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park will reopen July 11, followed by Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios reopening July 15. The Disney Springs shopping and dining district reopened May 20 with new health and safety measures in place, such as a mask requirement.

ST. LOUIS: Le Meridien St. Louis Clayton, a new hotel opening this fall in downtown Clayton, has announced plans for socially distanced conferences and meetings. The hotel offers a Conference Level floor with redesigned in-person meetings as well as hybrid and satellite meetings options. Reservations are currently open for all guests for dates after Oct. 26, 2020.
