INTERNATIONAL: The Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) will host Convening Asia Pacific—The Global Recovery Forum, a one-day hybrid event to support business event industry recovery. Taking place Nov. 10, the livestreamed event will feature workshops to build the practical skills and knowledge event professionals and businesses need to be successful in the recovery phase of the industry.
NATIONAL: The Canada Summer Games, originally scheduled for August 2021, have been postponed until 2022. The Canada Games, which are held every two years and alternate between winter and summer, are the country’s largest multisport event in Ontario's Niagara Region. More than 5,000 participants and 4,000 volunteers are expected to take part. The dates of the 2022 Games have not yet been decided.
EDMONTON: The International Ice Hockey Federation announced that all upcoming world junior hockey championship games will be played at Rogers Place, eliminating the city of Red Deer location. The games will be held without attendees, and the plan is still to end on Jan. 5, 2021. Edmonton is currently hosting the Stanley Cup playoffs without fans in a COVID-19-free bubble zone.
MONTREAL: Starting in August, Café Pista's new downtown location now offers natural wine pop-ups, known as DELI DELI, every Thursday for under $30. The cafe announces the wine options the night before the pop-up on DELI DELI's Instagram page. Groups from two to four people can book an evening, which features as many as five glasses of wine in addition to small plates.
TORONTO: The Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO) is collaborating with CityView Drive-In for three live performances taking place on Oct. 7, 16, and 17. Around twenty musicians will perform live, marking the largest TSO performance since the beginning of the pandemic.
