CANADA: Montreal's Santa Claus Parade Canceled, Plus Mac N' Cheese Mania, Toronto International Festival of Authors, and More

NATIONAL: The Architecture & Design Film Festival—or ADFF:2020—will take place virtually from Nov. 19 to Dec. 3. The event will feature 16 virtual film programs, special guests, and director Q&As, plus discussions from various architects and designers exploring racial injustice, urbanization, and utopian societies. Tickets for individual films and full festival passes will be on sale Oct. 15, with a discounted price until Nov. 15.

CALGARY: YYC Food Trucks is hosting Mac N' Cheese Mania on Oct. 4 in the Grey Eagle Resort and Casino parking lot. The drive-through event will feature food trucks from the likes of Family Squeezed and Tikka N Tequila, all serving various mac n' cheese-fused dishes. 

EDMONTON: The "Deadmonton" haunted house will run from Sept. 25 to Nov. 13, with daily hours varying. The Area 51-theme experience has tickets starting at $34.95 a person. Face masks will be mandatory for all attendees, groups will be spaced, and sanitation stations will be placed throughout the venue.

MONTREAL: The annual Santa Claus parade, an event that drew 400,000 spectators last year, has been canceled due to public health guidelines surrounding COVID-19. The Societe de Developpement Commercial Montreal Centre-ville is working on ways to replace the parade in a safe way.

TORONTO: The 41st annual Toronto International Festival of Authors, now directed by Roland Gulliver, will run virtually from Oct. 22 to Nov. 1. The free festival will feature more than 200 events, with headliners including Margaret Atwood, Desmond Cole, and Harlan Coben.
