EDMONTON: The Wetaskiwin Health Foundation has canceled its 13th annual Barn Dance but will hold a raffle and silent auction online to raise money for the Wetaskiwin Hospital & Care Centre. The online raffle is open until Nov. 30, with the draw date happening Dec. 14.
TORONTO: The Radisson Blu brand has opened its first property in Canada, Radisson Blu Toronto Downtown, in what was formerly the Radisson Admiral Toronto-Harbourfront space. After renovations, the updated property offers 157 rooms with views of both the cityscape and Lake Ontario, plus more than 12,000 square feet of meeting space.
The annual Heddington Halloween display has been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. In 2013, the display became an official community fundraiser for SickKids Foundation, and the event has raised approximately $25,000 for SickKids from 2013 through 2019. Donations to the hospital are still being collected.
VANCOUVER: The Vancouver Podcast Festival, presented by DOXA, will be held virtually from Nov. 18-22. VanPodFest has refined its programming to eight events over five days, including a mix of live events, workshops, panels, and a first-ever pitch session. More programming and participating local and visiting podcasts will be announced as details are confirmed. Festival passes and individual tickets are on sale now.
WOLFVILLE, NS: Devour! The Food Film Fest is celebrating 10 years with a hybrid event on Oct. 21-25. The festival, which has been named "Devour! 9.5" to reflect travel restrictions and smaller in-person gatherings, will feature 44 films with a combination of in-person and digital screenings. The opening gala film, Disney's Ratatouille, will be screened in person at the Valley Drive In Theatre; 2020 festival headliner Phil Rosenthal will join virtually for a post-film Q&A and interview.
