GLOBAL: London-based online events platform Hopin has acquired event technology and mobile app company Topi. David Aubespin, Topi co-founder and CEO, will join as vice president of product, while fellow co-founder Eric Sellin will move into the role of principal engineer for the development of the mobile solutions.
The Virtual Events Institute recently launched a new platform. The Virtual Event Marketplace—which connects planners with suppliers of virtual and hybrid solutions—is free to use for event organizers and offers a subscription-based model for suppliers looking to use its features. Like a dating app for event pros, the platform will allow organizers to post their latest projects and get matched with the correct vendor that can cater to their individual needs.
NATIONAL: CNBC has announced a series of 2021 virtual events, including the inaugural CNBC Evolve Global Summit on June 16, 2021. The new international event will include conversations on how companies can embrace change and reinvent their businesses for the new era.
BURLINGTON, ONTARIO: Overlooking the Burlington waterfront, The Pearle Hotel & Spa, Autograph Collection is slated to open this coming spring. The Studio Munge-designed property pulls inspiration from local lake houses for its interiors and plans to feature five unique event spaces, a spa, and an on-site waterfront restaurant called Isabelle.
MONTREAL: Making its debut in Montreal this spring is Humaniti Hotel Montreal, Autograph Collection, marking Quebec’s first Marriott Autograph Collection Hotel. Offering 3,985 square feet of meeting and event space across three rooms, the property boasts modern spaces for gathering safely in person. The Hemisphere ballroom, for example, features floor-to-ceiling windows without any obstruction.
