CANADA: Amazon Canada’s Online Shopping Event, Alberta’s Winter Garden, A New Toronto Hotel and More

NATIONAL: Amazon Canada is currently hosting an online shopping event dubbed New Year New You, and it’s designed to help customers stick to their 2021 resolutions. For a select time, an assortment of items curated for healthy living (think activewear, fitness equipment, home organization products, supplements and more) will be available at a discounted price.

ALBERTA: The Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden is returning this winter season with a light festival aiming to brighten these dark times. The walking tour is running now through Jan. 30 and features over 150,000 decorative lights and ice sculptures celebrating Japanese culture and traditions. Tickets start at $10 and must be purchased in advance.

TORONTO: The Toronto Black Film Festival’s (TBFF) ninth edition is taking place virtually this year from Feb. 10-21. The all-access pass is $69 and includes 134 films from filmmakers from over 25 countries. TBFF will kick off with Foster Boy by Youssef Delara, and free panel discussions will take place Feb. 15 in honor of Family Day. 

W Hotel Toronto is on track to open in April 2021 after a $40 million renovation that began in July 2019. The Marriott International property will be located in Toronto’s Yorkville neighborhood and will be the company’s seventh luxury hotel operating in Canada. The nine-story, 255-room hotel will boast indoor-outdoor spaces, sweeping views of the city and decor inspired by modern sophistication.

VANCOUVER: The Westin Grand Hotel is rebranding to become Hilton Vancouver Downtown, and it will be the first Hilton Hotels & Resorts property in downtown Vancouver. The property has 206 guest rooms, more than 4,000 square feet of meeting and event space and is 14 kilometers from Vancouver International Airport.
