NATIONAL: Canadian Music Week has announced the Jim Beam Virtual National Talent Search tour will take place virtually June 7-26, 2021. This year's tour will feature 18 of Canada's best up-and-coming bands; each episode focuses on one province, and local bands will get feedback from some of the biggest names in music. Submissions are open now through March 8.
Happening today, Vancouver-based Modern Day Wife and the Female Founder Collective are teaming up to put on a star-studded digital event, dubbed No Limits. The virtual event will feature a preshow with a DJ and mixology session, celebrity speakers and more. Tickets are $34.99.
The Billboard Music Awards have announced the dates for the 2021 award show, produced by Dick Clark Productions. The event will air live on NBC on Sunday, May 23. More details are set to be released in the coming weeks. The 2020 Billboard Music Awards took place Oct. 14 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
ARMSTRONG, BRITISH COLUMBIA: The Abbotsford Tulip Festival will be leaving its current location in Fraser Valley after four years and will be relocating to the city of Armstrong in the North Okanagan. This decision comes after the cancellation of the 2020 festival due to COVID-19.
TORONTO: Night of Ideas, an all-night art event that typically takes place at the University of Toronto, is going virtual this year from Jan. 28-29. The event is free with registration and will focus on how technology influences socialization; it will include speakers from 75 global cities, plus performances, screenings, workshops and readings.
VANCOUVER: More than 330 restaurants will participate in the upcoming Dine Out Vancouver Festival. Participating restaurants will have set menus that range from $15-$54, and will be running promotional events such as cooking classes and conversations with those in the culinary industry. The festival will also include hotel partnerships to incentivize people from outside the area to join the experience.
