ALBERTA: The Banff Centre is hosting a free digital event series each month with programming designed to support local artists. The current lineup is available from April through June, and includes the Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival, negotiation-skills training, contemporary dance lessons and more.
CALGARY: To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, Delta Calgary South Hotel is hosting a three-course Irish dinner with beer pairings from Field & Forge Brewing Co. on March 17. Tickets start at $200 and include dinner for two, welcome beers and shots of craft whiskey, plus live entertainment and an overnight stay at the hotel. Dinner will be hosted in the hotel’s Atrium Event Center, where guests can enjoy a contactless dining experience in individual, partitioned balconies overlooking the main lobby with live entertainment.
Calgary Zoo is hosting an adults-only edition of its Locked Zoo escape experience, dubbed Penguin Pursuit. The after-hours, outdoor event is taking place March 26 from 4:00-8:00 p.m., and teams are encouraged to dress in coordinating outfits. Tickets are $45 with adult beverages and dinner boxes available for purchase. Entry times are staggered and COVID safety precautions will be enforced.
OTTAWA: The 35th edition of the Ottawa Children’s Festival (OCF) is taking place virtually this May. Exact dates and ticketing information will be announced in the coming weeks. The festival is designed for children ages 2-15, and programming includes acrobatic stunts, live theater, puppetry and more. The event aims to enrich children's education through the performing arts.
VANCOUVER: As part of the virtual CelticFest, Sarah Elliott Gannon—the owner of Loved and Kneaded Irish bakery in North Vancouver—is hosting a virtual Irish Soda Bread Demo on March 18 at 7:30 p.m. The festival is free and open to the public, and it will also features virtual game shows, livestreamed concerts, a digital merchandise shop and more. It runs through March 20.
