NATIONAL: On April 8, the annual Spectrum Works job fair is continuing its national initiative to help people with autism find work. The event is organized by the Toronto-based foundation Substance Cares and co-sponsored by Autism Speaks Canada. Recruiters are attending from major Canadian companies such as Salesforce and IBM, and participants will have the opportunity to sign up for interviews, receive resume consulting and attend job-skill workshops.
MONTREAL: Singer, dancer and actress Lyne Tremblay is presenting her first-ever virtual cabaret, titled “Living in Limbo,” on April 24 at 7:30 p.m. to celebrate the release of her new album, Get to It. Livestreamed from Tremblay’s Montreal residence, the event will feature songs from the new album and recount the pandemic through a series of monologues and an interactive audience segment.
TORONTO: The Beaches Drive-Thru Easter Parade is bringing Easter joy to a city in lockdown on April 3 at the Eglinton GO Station South Lot. Attendees will drive along a route decorated with floats and attractions featuring additions from Lionels Zoo, Hands on Exotic and more, plus eight live band performances. Tickets are $20 per vehicle.
REEL Canada and Netflix have teamed up to help 15 young filmmakers create 11 short films with a $10,000 budget that are slated to debut on April 21, National Canadian Film Day. The film series is dubbed Light(s) at the end of the Tunnel. Each film runs between one and six minutes and includes genres such as animation, live action, documentary and more.
VANCOUVER: Modern Day Wife is hosting a digital summit on March 30, titled New Season New You: Establishing Your Rituals. Discussions will surround the importance of finding a routine that inspires actions and results. Fireside chats will be hosted by female founders and CEOs including former Real Housewives star Monique Samuels, and the event will also feature a livestreamed DJ, a virtual photo booth and a digital expo to shop from.
