The competition was established in 2005 by CEO Maxwell Ryan with the goal of showcasing the best spaces under 1,000 square feet from around the world. However, with the onset of the pandemic, homes have more meaning and are serving a greater purpose than ever before. The next chance to win the cash prize will be in June. DENVER: The Hyatt House opened its newest location earlier this month. The 140-room property is owned by local BMC Investment Co, LLA and Chattanooga-based Vision Hospitality Group (VHG). Hyatt House Denver/Aurora boasts more than 1,800 square feet of flexible meeting space, an on-site bar and restaurant and a fitness facility and spa.
LOS ANGELES: National Geographic is hosting a virtual, free online concert to celebrate Earth Day hosted by travel influencer Jessica Nabongo. The show will take place on April 21 at 5:30 p.m. featuring musical performances by Willie Nelson, Yo-Yo Ma and more, plus a special appearance by conservationist Jane Goodall. At 7 p.m., join an after-party on National Geographic’s TikTok Live.
MIAMI/SOUTH FLORIDA: Kimpton Goodland Hotel opened in Fort Lauderdale last week. The hotel boasts 96 rooms across three two-story buildings on 1.6 acres of land just one block from the beach. Amenity highlights include two pool decks, four food and beverage concepts, a 400-square-foot meeting room, an on-site fitness center, and a rooftop restaurant and bar slated to debut at a later date.
