NATIONAL: ReturnSafe, a software solution for infectious disease management, has launched Safe Events, a new platform that can help facilitate the reopening of entertainment venues, sporting events, trade shows and other gatherings. The product provides tools for prescreening guests, as well as venue entrance screening, contact-logging wearables, post-event safety measures and more.
CORT has named Mike Davis its new president and chief operating officer. The longtime executive, who joined CORT in 1997, will oversee all operations and sales for CORT Furniture Rental, CORT Trade Show & Events, CORT Party Rental, 4SITE by CORT and Roomservice by CORT in the U.K.
MONTREAL: Several Montreal-based restaurants, bars and clubs are planning to stage a “symbolic” reopening on May 8 from 12-2 p.m. At participating locations, staff members will welcome passersby on the street to hand out gift certificates and other surprises. Masks are required and social distancing will be maintained.
QUEBEC CITY: The Québec City Convention Centre has debuted a new multifunctional broadcasting room designed for hosting hybrid and virtual events of all kinds. A partnership with Encore, the space is equipped with a large stage, LED screens and a lighting and sound system; the venue can hold 250 while maintaining social distancing.
VANCOUVER: The annual fair at Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) has been canceled. Organizers of the 111-year-old exhibition say moving forward with capacity restrictions was not financially viable. In 2020, the event was held as a drive-thru experience; more details on modified experiences for 2021 are expected to be announced soon.
