CANADA: Montreal’s New Moxy Hotel, Updates on RBC Canadian Open, New Dates for Halifax Pride and More

NATIONAL: Martin Stitt is Hotel Equ's new senior vice president of operations for Canada. He will oversee the brand’s portfolio of 26 hotels across the country. Based in Edmonton, Stitt brings more than 30 years of experience to the role; he most previously served as area vice president of Canada with Marriott International. 

Gifting company Sugarwish has launched a snacks division, offering more than 50 sweet and savory choices like nuts, trail mix and dried fruit. A personalized alternative for corporate gifting, the service allows attendees to choose the contents of their own gifts.

HALIFAX: The Halifax Pride Festival has delayed its annual celebration to August. Originally planned for July, the 11-day event will now take place Aug. 12-22 in an effort to host more in-person attendees as pandemic-related restrictions ease. The Pride Parade element will not take place this year to avoid large crowds.

MONTREAL: The first Moxy hotel in Quebec is slated to open in 2024. The Moxy Montreal will occupy the first 11 floors of a 63-story mixed-use tower downtown and will include 216 guest rooms and a variety of public spaces.

TORONTO: The RBC Canadian Open will be held at Oakdale Golf and Country Club in 2023 and 2026, while another Toronto course, St. George’s Golf and Country Club, will host the PGA Tour event in 2022. The tournament was canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19.
