NATIONAL: Ignite2021, an event professional workshop, will take place July 1 and is set to host a panel of speakers and training on the platform Goldcast. It’s the second edition of the event, which was launched by agency emc3 in 2020 to support out-of-work marketing and event professionals; this year, emc3 will host the virtual event in partnership with AMTEvents. The event will also offer networking opportunities, a production masterclass and entertainment provided by SongDivision.
BANFF, ALBERTA: The Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity will host events surrounding National Indigenous People’s Day on June 21. Activities will include a sunrise yoga session, film screenings and discussions, and performances by the International Indigenous Music Summit. New to the festivities this year is an online marketplace showcasing Indigenous vendors. Registration for the event will open this week.
CALGARY: Beakerhead festival, which is known for blending the arts and sciences, has been canceled for the second year in a row. The festival normally takes place in September, and organizers have told eventgoers to keep an eye out for updates on ways to participate outside of the festival.
TORONTO: Al fresco dining is set to return to Casa Loma, as Liberty Entertainment Group hosts Summer in the Gardens. The safely distanced space will include an expansive outdoor area, skyline views and a new menu. As of June 11, dinner service is available beginning at 5 p.m., seven days a week.
WINDSOR, ONTARIO: The Windsor International Film Festival (WIFF) will not happen in 2021, but the WIFF Under The Stars’ drive-in will have its second annual run. Last year’s drive-in hosted 88 cars at a time, and preparations are being made to allow those without vehicles to participate. The event is expected to take place for 10 days in August.
