CANADA: TIFF's Hybrid Event, Grey Goose and Coors' Summer Activations, Vancouver’s New Arts Festival and More

NATIONAL: Grey Goose Essences is collaborating with artist SZA to host a virtual music experience that utilizes drone technology and production to blend virtual and live-action set-pieces. “IN BLOOM, Imagined By SZA” will promote the vodka brand’s new line of fruit and botanical-infused vodka and give viewers access to at-home recipes. The virtual performance will stream globally on YouTube on July 1; fans can begin reserving their spots now.

MONTREAL: In more Grey Goose news, the brand will host the Smooth Putt, a unique nine-hole putting course at Grand Quay of the Port of Montreal. The event’s activities will take place from 11:30 a.m-8:30 p.m. each day from July 24 to Aug. 4. Participants can make reservations for up to four golfers at a time, and tickets cost $21 per person.

TORONTO: After going mostly digital in 2020, the 45th annual Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) plans to return as a hybrid event from Sept. 9-18. In addition to virtual components, in-person screenings are expected to be held at venues including TIFF Bell Lightbox, Roy Thomson Hall and the Princess of Wales Theatre. The festival’s main lineup will be announced late next month. 

The “A Slice of Somewhere Nice” experience, put on by Coors Slice, is coming to Toronto from July 7-11. The free, five-day activation will take place at a private venue in Mississauga, and it will feature a pool, lawn games and a private bartender serving cans of Coors Slice’s new and returning flavors. A professional sanitization crew will be on-site following each group’s departure

VANCOUVER: The Eastside Culture Crawl Society has rebranded as the Eastside Arts Society and announced plans to produce the first CREATE! Arts Festival in August, which will feature activities lead by local artists. The group, which will continue to host the annual Eastside Culture Crawl Festival, has also been awarded $300,000 from the Vancouver Foundation. The money will be used to establish a designated East Vancouver arts district over the next three years.
