NATIONAL: Canadians are invited to the BE EPIC virtual run on July 25 to support female athletes who will be competing on the world stage. BE EPIC is part of the CAN Fund #150Women campaign, which helps provide financial support to up-and-coming female athletes. A post-run event will take place on July 28, where participants will have the opportunity to talk to some of the athletes they are supporting.
Lotte Hotels Corporation has announced that Jim Petrus will serve as CEO of Lotte Hotels and Resorts Americas, effective immediately. Petrus has more than 30 years of industry experience, and his leadership will help build the South Korean brand’s presence in the Americas. The global brand first entered the North American market in 2015 with its New York location.
CALGARY: Camp Sled Island has announced the lineup for its upcoming three-day, in-person event, taking place from Aug. 19-21 at Beltline’s High Park. This year, in addition to the live performances, there will also be prerecorded performances, video guests, film screenings and more. Tickets are $60 per table and go on sale July 23.
RED DEER, ALBERTA: The Green Industry Show and Conference (GISC) will be returning as an in-person event from Nov. 18-19. The show will be held at Westerner Park in Red Deer, a departure from its typical locations of Edmonton and Calgary in an attempt to make it more accessible for attendees across Alberta. GISC was held virtually last year; this year, organizers expect to feature a 37,000-square-foot trade show, 10 hours of live education, a growers auction and dinner, and more.
VANCOUVER: VanPride is back this year with a mix of in-person and virtual events that will run until Aug. 3. There will be no live parade this year as presenters are following strict health guidelines. Instead, organizers are hosting more than 60 different events at various venues, ranging from in-person performances to virtual showcases to art walks.
