MONTREAL: Performance troupe Le Monastère is returning with its annual Pride Circus Cabaret. This year, the shows will be hosted at Le Jardin from Aug. 5-7 and again from Aug. 12-14. Tickets are $34.95 and are on sale now. There will be 10 acts that highlight individual artists during each set, including acrobats and aerial artists.
PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY, ONTARIO: The Golden Hour Festival will be held at the Mustang Drive-In from Aug. 21-22. The lineup includes iskwē and Tom Wilson, among others, and tickets are now on sale. No alcohol is permitted on site.
RICHMOND, BRITISH COLUMBIA: Richmond's newest luxury hotel recently opened to the public. The Versante Hotel has 100 guest rooms and is the only hotel in the city with a rooftop pool. The new location is a short walk from the Canada Line Bridgeport Station; it was originally set to open in 2018, but got delayed due to the pandemic.
SYDNEY, NOVA SCOTIA: All-ages music festival Makin' Waves will be taking place in Open Hearth Park every Thursday from Aug. 5 to Sept. 2, with performers including Jully Black, The Sadies and Neon Dreams. Attendees will be seated in 10-by-10-foot pods that each accommodate up to six people. Admission is free, but deposits are required to reserve a spot.
TORONTO: Ontario Place in Toronto will be undergoing some big renovations in the upcoming years. Highlights include a family-friendly attraction with waterslides, pools, botanical gardens and more; there will also be an all-season adventure park with ziplines, climbing walls and escape rooms. Live Nation also plans to convert the existing amphitheater into an indoor-outdoor live music and performance venue, holding as many as 20,000 in the summer months. The construction is set to be completed between 2027 and 2030.
