NATIONAL: Meeting Professionals International (MPI), the world’s largest meeting and event industry association worldwide, has launched the new Event Wellness Superhero certificate course. This four-hour course focuses on holistic wellness principles and the emotional intelligence theory, and it is aimed at placing wellness as a foundation for designing events post-pandemic.
CALGARY: A city-wide, pirate-themed game is coming to Calgary on Aug. 28. Dubbed the Calgary Pirates Treasure Hunt, the immersive event takes over several city blocks, where attendees are asked to crack codes and solve puzzles in an effort to find a hidden bounty. The game costs $52.50 per team, and teams of two to six people are allowed.
Heritage Park Historical Village will host Carnivà le, a carnival event with rides, fortune tellers, carnival treats, acts from Le Cirque de la Nuit performers and more. Taking place Sept. 17, all proceeds from the event go the preservation of the park’s history; ticket prices range from $75-250.
TORONTO: Fall BeerFest T.O. is returning to Bandshell Park at Toronto’s Exhibition Place from Sept. 24-25. All attendees, vendors, crew, suppliers, artists and partners will be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination. The event will also have limited capacity, and masks will be required when not consuming food or drinks.
VANCOUVER: As part of the Vancouver Mural Festival’s Black Strathcona Resurgence Project, three murals spotlighting intercultural solidarity were recently unveiled at 700 Main Street. They were created by Chinese artist Emma Xie, Indigenous artist Chase Gray, and Black artist John Sebastian. According to festival organizers, this year’s lineup featured over 50% female or nonbinary and BIPOC artists; the festival ran from Aug. 4-22 with over 300 murals spread throughout 11 neighborhoods.
