CANADA: Montreal’s Techno Dance Parties, Toronto’s Run X, Alberta’s Hybrid Culture Days Event and More

NATIONAL: Event and community platform Swapcard has launched a new handheld app called SwapAccess, which provides event planners with an all-in-one registration and session access solution for hybrid events. Organizers can track session attendance and control access for both in-person and virtual participants on the phone and tablet app, which works with Swapcard’s ecosystem.

The 2021 Canadian HR Awards will take place virtually on Sept. 15. Hosted by CBC news anchor Suhana Meharchand, the event will feature live virtual panels featuring some of the finalists, who will be sharing insights, best practices and success stories. There will also be a live chat option and a peer-matching function for networking. 

FORT MCMURRAY, ALBERTA: Alberta Culture Days, a monthlong event promoting arts and culture across the province, is currently taking place with 16 free, in-person events this month, along with several virtual events like video tours of Heritage Village sites. The event will wrap up with a music festival on Sept. 29-30 at the Suncor Energy Centre for the Performing Arts, which will be limited to half capacity. 

MONTREAL: Starting last Friday and running for the next two Fridays, Montreal amusement park LaRonde is hosting a series of adults-only techno dance parties. Called SoirĂ©es Techno, the events allow attendees to ride rollercoasters while enjoying dance music through the park’s speakers. Tickets for the events on Sept. 17 and 24 cost $9.99 for park passport holders or $19.99 for everyone else.

TORONTO: Exhibition Place will welcome 500 runners to Toronto’s Run X, a 5-kilometer chip-timed time trial race, on Sept. 19. The course consists of four laps through the venue’s Bandshell Park, and race kits will be available for pick-up a week before the event. Participants will go off in seven waves of 75 people each hour and must sign up for specific time slots between 8 a.m and 1 p.m on race day.
