NATIONAL: Event and experience marketing agency George P. Johnson (GPJ) has acquired a significant minority stake in one of its long-term partners, full-service video agency NOMOBO. The investment allows GPJ to expand its cinematic approach to virtual and hybrid events by creating high-quality productions that make broadcasts part of the overall experience design, rather than just an add-on.
ATLANTA: The annual Atlanta Design Festival will return from Oct. 2-10 with both in-person and virtual events. The festival will have a “Reconnecting the Community” theme, bringing together independent designers, established brands, young talent and international speakers; it will feature a keynote speech from Georgia House of Representatives Park Cannon as well as MA! Architecture Tours, which this year span Georgia cities Atlanta, Young Harris and Serenbe.
NASHVILLE: W Nashville, slated to open this fall, has appointed David Cronin as general manager. The new 286-room property will feature a bar and two restaurants, plus a 10,000-square-foot pool deck, billed as the city’s largest hotel pool area.
NEW YORK: It’s Time to Make it NYC, the city’s marketing and sales effort for the meetings and conventions industry, has been unveiled by NYC & Company. The digital campaign features multiple creative executions depicting new and iconic imagery of New York City spots, including the Javits Center, the Oculus at the World Trade Center, Central Park and more. The announcement comes on the heels of the $1.5 billion expansion of the Javits Center.
WASHINGTON, DC: RJ Whyte Event Production has acquired BRAVO! Events, a national strategic and experiential event company. As part of the agreement, BRAVO! founder and CEO Nancy Shaffer assumes a new role as chief creative officer, bringing with her 30 years of experience that includes being board president for the National Live Events Coalition and a founding member of the DC Events Coalition.
