NATIONAL: Julius Solaris has joined all-in-one-event management platform Hopin as vice president of marketing strategy and events, where he’ll support the company’s continued growth by guiding core marketing strategies and engaging the event community. The industry veteran, who most recently worked at Swapcard and is the founder and former editor-in-chief of EventMB, will co-host Hopin’s EventMinded, a mental health summit for event professionals, on Oct. 12.
MONTREAL: The October edition of the Montreal food truck festival Les Premiers Vendredis has been canceled due to a shortage of restaurant workers. The event had originally been slated to run for two weeks in September and October; the September edition was held successfully and drew close to 20,000 people over two days.
TORONTO: In October, Toronto History Museums will launch new, in-person outdoor content for the City of Toronto Awakenings program, including a light and sound meditative experience at Fort York National Historic Site that features a 100-foot-long video wall and original music from Smashing Pumpkins guitarist Jeff Schroeder. There will also be art projections on Toronto History Museum sites and other experiences.
Scottish craft beer brand Innis & Gunn is hosting a temporary pop-up event in Toronto. Running from Sept. 30 to Oct. 3, the event at 46 Ossington Avenue invites guests to sample different types of beer. The event is 19-plus and a valid ID is required to enter.
VANCOUVER: The Vancouver Fall Home Show takes place at the Vancouver Convention Center from Oct. 14-17, with a market curated by Got Craft. The collaboration marks Got Craft’s first collaboration with Marketplace Events, the company behind the home show. More than 20 vendors are expected to participate, showing artisan-made chocolates, home goods, jewelry, candles and more.
