NATIONAL: Julius Solaris has joined all-in-one-event management platform Hopin as vice president of marketing strategy and events, where he’ll support the company’s continued growth by guiding core marketing strategies and engaging the event community. The industry veteran, who most recently worked at Swapcard and is the founder and former editor-in-chief of EventMB, will co-host Hopin’s EventMinded, a mental health summit for event professionals, on Oct. 12.
CALGARY: Calgary Sports and Entertainment is now requiring proof of vaccination for games and other live events held at Calgary’s Scotiabank Saddledome and McMahon Stadium. Negative COVID tests cannot be substituted as proof. In addition, masks will be required at all times at the Scotiabank Saddledome and recommended at McMahon Stadium.
EDMONTON: Dining in the Dark, a unique dining series where guests are blindfolded in an attempt to heighten their sense of taste and smell, is coming to Edmonton for four nights in October. Tickets to the experience, which will take place at The Foundry Room and feature menus of either Thai or Creole cuisine, start at $80.
MONTREAL: According to the International Meetings Statistics Report by the Union of International Associations, Montreal is the top-ranked city in the Americas for the number of international events hosted in 2020 for the fourth year in a row. In 2020, Montreal hosted 41 international events, beating out other cities like Washington, New York and Chicago.
VANCOUVER: The Vancouver Fall Home Show takes place at the Vancouver Convention Center from Oct. 14-17, with a market curated by Got Craft. The collaboration marks Got Craft’s first collaboration with Marketplace Events, the company behind the home show. More than 20 vendors are expected to participate, showing artisan-made chocolates, home goods, jewelry, candles and more.
