US: A Virtual Event Platform’s Massive New Funding, HBO’s Insecure Fest Block Party, 'Women’s Health's New Virtual Festival and More

NATIONAL: Global virtual events platform Hubilo has announced $125 million in Series B funding from Alkeon Capital, Lightspeed Venture Partners and Balderton Capital. This brings the rapidly growing event company’s funding to $153 million in less than 18 months. The investment will allow Hubilo to develop new business functions and platform advancements, as well as set up new sales offices in key regions.

The first-ever Women’s Health Breakthroughs Festival, a weeklong series of free virtual events, takes place Oct. 17-22. Curated by the editors of Women’s Health, the program will include keynote conversations, panel discussions, workouts, workshops and more, designed to inspire positive change and personal breakthroughs. Editors will host conversations with health and wellness experts including Jay Shetty, Madelyn Cline, Tayshia Adams, Nicole Ari Parker, and Tone It Up’s Karena Dawn and Katrina Scott.

LAS VEGAS: To mark its eighth anniversary, the 182-room Nobu Hotel Caesars Palace has begun a multimillion-dollar refresh project, slated to finish by the end of 2021. Architecture and design firm Rockwell Group has reenvisioned the guest rooms and commons areas, drawing inspiration from kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold epoxy.

LOS ANGELES: In celebration of the final season of TV series Insecure, HBO will hold its fifth Insecure Fest block party on Oct. 23. Hosted by Crissle West and Francheska Medina of the InsecuriTEA Podcast, the event will feature an episode screening, a retrospective photo installation, surprise performances and food from local Black-owned vendors.

MONTEREY COUNTY, CALIF: The Monterey County CVB recently expanded its staff by hiring Richard Hud, a 30-year veteran in sales and hospitality management, as business development executive. Based in Illinois, Hud will help broaden the CVB’s focus to the Midwest and East Coast regions.
