CANADA: A ‘Squid Game’-Inspired Halloween Event, Canadian International Auto Show’s Return, Mississauga’s New Lakeview Village and More

NATIONAL: Global event production company J & S Audio Visual (JSAV) has rebranded as INSPIRE, in an effort to showcase its more integrated, full-service production offerings along with creative, digital and venue services for in-person, hybrid and virtual events. INSPIRE has over 35 years of experience and creates over 2,500 events per year. 

EDMONTON: Edmonton is hosting a Halloween weekend event that gives participants the chance to play or watch some of the activities from the smash-hit TV series Squid Game. The event will include activities similar to the show, including red light-green light, marbles and tug of war. Participants go up against 39 fellow players, and the winner gets a prize at the end. 

MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO: Mississauga’s upcoming Lakeview Village, part of the Ontario Innovation Coordinator project, is expected to generate more than 9,000 jobs. The 177-acre mixed-use waterfront community is expected to offer 8,000 housing units, 200,000 square feet of retail space, and a variety of parks and community spaces along with co-working offices and collaborative event spaces. 

OAKVILLE, ONTARIO: Due to the ongoing pandemic, the annual Oakville Santa Claus parade will be canceled. However, residents can join Oakville mayor Rob Burton as he sits down for a fireside chat with Santa Claus on Nov. 27 at 9 a.m. There will also be a drive-thru toy donation at Coronation Park on Dec. 10 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

TORONTO: The Canadian International Auto Show will return to Toronto in 2022, after being canceled in 2021. The show will take place at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre from Feb. 18-27. The capacity limit is currently unknown, but it’s expected that crowds of about 15,000 at a time will be allowed.
