GLOBAL: The Events Industry Council (EIC) has launched its new CMP Fellows Programme, an initiative designed to enhance the depth and global reach of the Certified Meeting Professional program. The initiative will recognize and reward CMPs who continue to make a significant investment towards the betterment of the event industry; fellowship is open to those with at least 10 years’ tenure as a CMP or Emeritus who can provide robust evidence of engagement and experience within the industry. A new class of fellows will be inducted each year, with benefits such as exclusive networking opportunities, peer-to-peer collaborations and more.
NATIONAL: Event management software company Aventri has announced a partnership with CLEAR, the secure identity company, to help attendees safely return to live events. The partnership will pair Aventri’s event registration and mobile app solutions with CLEAR’s Health Pass, allowing event organizers to easily connect a person's verified identity to COVID-19-related information such as test results and proof of vaccination.
Cloudbeds, a hospitality technology provider, has announced a $150 million Series D funding round from new and existing investors as it continues growing its team. The financing will help Cloudbeds further enhance its hospitality management software solutions, which include a fully integrated, cloud-based platform for lodging businesses of all types and sizes, including independent hotels, hostels, vacation rentals and hotel groups.
LOS ANGELES: MRC Live & Alternative and ABC have announced that the 2021 American Music Awards will be hosted by Cardi B from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The awards will air live on ABC on Nov. 21, and be available the next day on Hulu. The American Music Awards are the world’s largest fan-voted award show.
ORLANDO/CENTRAL FLORIDA: Fairmont Hotels and Resorts is set to open its first Orlando hotel in 2025. The hotel will be located on 30 acres of land in Orlando’s entertainment district near numerous attractions and just 20 minutes from Orlando International Airport. The seven-story property will feature 550 guest rooms, along with 44,000 square feet of event space, three swimming pools, a 12,000-square-foot spa and a 140-seat restaurant.
