NATIONAL: Riot Games has announced that the 2022 edition of the League of Legends World Championship will take place in New York, Toronto, Mexico City and San Francisco. The brand’s first-ever multicountry tour of its annual esports competition will be the first to take place in North America since 2016. The 2021 edition wrapped up earlier this month in Reykjavík, Iceland; the monthlong tournament featured no fans in attendance.

CALGARY: The Tipsy Elf, the first holiday-themed pop-up at Calgary’s Fairmont Palliser, recently opened. In the festive space, guests can enjoy themed cocktails and holiday music while surrounded by seasonal decor. This new experience, which debuted on Nov. 27, will run until Dec. 30 and is open for walk-ins or private events with light snacks.

TORONTO: On the heels of the "Immersive Van Gogh" experience's success, experiential art exhibit company Lighthouse Immersive will debut its new Frida Kahlo-centric activation in 2022. "Frida: Immersive Dream" will use state-of-the-art projectors and high-quality sound systems to immerse guests in the famed Mexican artist's work. It will take over 20221 Yonge Street in Toronto from March 31 to May 29, and is also popping up in U.S. cities like Dallas, Boston, Houston, Chicago, Denver and Los Angeles throughout the spring.

VANCOUVER: The VanDusen Festival of Lights is officially open for the season. The festival is held within the 15-acre VanDusen Garden and will run until Jan. 3. Some highlighted stops include Grotto A Glow, Illuminated Stream, PrisMagic Maples and more. There will also be five different food and beverage areas in the garden for guests to enjoy donuts, fondue, mulled wine and more. Tickets are available to purchase online and cost $17.50.

VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA: Capital City Comic Con, Victoria’s annual sci-fi and comic convention, is returning in 2022 after a two-year hiatus. Taking place March 25-27, the event will be held at the Victoria Convention Centre and Crystal Gardens across the street. Organizers have not yet announced any guest appearances.
