NATIONAL: NexTech AR Solutions has teamed up with Restaurants Canada, the largest foodservice organization in Canada. Through the new partnership, Restaurants Canada will use NexTech’s virtual event platform for their own events, which will include 3D AR booths, human holograms, 3D AR product experiences and augmented-reality ads.
Floor mapping solution ExpoFP has teamed up with visitor tracking technology Crowd Connected. By combining an interactive ExpoFP floorplan with Crowd Connected’s location tracking, trade show attendees can see exactly where they are on a show floor and easily find and navigate to the exhibitors that interest them. Organizers can also get access to Crowd Connected’s full suite of foot-fall analytics tools, such as performance metrics for every exhibitor at a show.
CALGARY: The Calgary Event Centre Project, the planned future home of the Calgary Flames, has been canceled after a Dec. 31 deadline passed. In a statement, Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation (CSEC) said that it was not prepared to fund the infrastructure and climate costs that were introduced by the city, which were reportedly adding $25.5 million to the CSEC’s project expenses. The Flames have 11 years remaining on their Scotiabank Saddledome lease.
TORONTO: Country music festival Boots & Hearts is slated to take place Aug. 4-7 at Burl’s Creek. The festival will be headlined by Shania Twain, Florida Georgia Line and Sam Hunt, and tickets are on sale now.
VANCOUVER: The 102nd Vancouver Polar Bear Swim took place on Jan. 1 as a virtual, at-home event. On New Year’s Day, participants were encouraged to adjust bathtubs or kiddie pools to 7 degrees Celsius, the average ocean water temperature of previous Polar Bear Swims, and share their experiences on social media. Registered participants received a commemorative certificate.
