CANADA: A British-Inspired High Tea, Updates of TD Toronto Jazz Festival and Vancouver Startup Week, and More

NATIONAL: All-in-one event platform Swapcard will hold a free virtual event—REvolve: From Events to Communities—for event professionals on March 3 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. EST. Aimed at the Evolve Community, a Swapcard-led network of 13,500 event professionals, the event will feature a keynote from Zara Rutherford, the youngest female pilot to fly solo around the world. Other speakers include Keneisha Williams, Scott Gould, Jack Owens and Andrew Roby. 

BANFF, ALBERTA: Mark Wold is the new dean of arts and leadership at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. Wold brings over two decades of experience to the role, most recently the center’s senior managing director of artistic program planning.

TORONTO: Casa Loma will host a British-inspired high tea service over Family Day weekend, Feb. 19-21. Taking place at the upscale Don Alfonso 1890 and Blueblood Steakhouse restaurants, the regal experience will offer items like premium teas, scones, gourmet pastries and tea sandwiches, along with cocktails and martinis for an extra cost. Reservations start at $75 per person.

The TD Toronto Jazz Festival will celebrate its 35th anniversary from June 24 to July 3. The event will feature 165 free shows with a focus on local talent; there's expected to be two new stages at the Victoria College Quad at the University of Toronto, as well as an installation at Yorkville’s Cumberland Park.

VANCOUVER: The annual weeklong tech event Vancouver Startup Week has canceled its 2022 event due to COVID-19 concerns. The event would have celebrated its ninth anniversary in 2022, after shifting to a virtual format over the past two years; in 2020, the virtual edition drew over 2,000 attendees. Organizers plan to return in person in May 2023.
