NATIONAL: In honor of Black History Month, grocery store Central Market is hosting a series of virtual cooking classes featuring stories and recipes from renowned black chefs. The series will kick off on Feb. 17 with chef Pierre Thiam, who will showcase his West African roots with a dinner menu consisting of salmon and cassava croquettes, grilled chicken yassa with line confit and chocolate fonio pudding. Class access and ingredient kit tickets are $85 per household.

Entire Productions CEO Natasha Miller will be launching her first book, "Relentless: Homeless Teen to Achieving the Entrepreneur Dream,” during a metaverse-based book launch on March 22, taking place on AllSeated’s ExVo platform. The virtual event will feature thought leaders, entertainment, interactive activities and more. Miller will also celebrate the book with a performance at San Francisco's SFMOMA on March 26, followed by a Champagne reception.

LAS VEGAS: Leading trade show organizers Emerald and Questex will join forces for Las Vegas Food & Beverage Industry Week, an event featuring four premiere food shows under one roof at the Las Vegas Convention Center from March 21-24. SIAL America, Bar & Restaurant Expo (formerly known as Nightclub & Bar Show), Pizza Expo and World Tea Conference + Expo will occur concurrently, uniting decision-makers from all sectors of the $1.5 trillion food and beverage industry as it continues to recover.

NEW YORK: On July 1, the Brooklyn Museum will debut an exhibit in honor of the late American fashion designer Virgil Abloh, who founded Off-White and was the artistic director of menswear at Louis Vuitton. Titled “Virgil Abloh: Figures of Speech,” the exhibit will run through January 29, 2023, and feature never-before-seen objects from the famed designer’s archive in the museum’s Great Hall.

PHILADELPHIA: The Roots and Live Nation Urban are teaming up for the return of Roots Picnic, taking place in-person at Mann at Fairmont Park from June 4-5. The two-day festival will be headlined by Mary J. Blige and The Roots, and the full lineup includes Jazmine Sullivan, Summer Walker, Wizkid and other hip-hop stars. Other highlights will include a dedicated podcast stage as well as various activations surrounding topics like film and social justice.
