CALGARY: Foodies in the Park, a series of pop-up al fresco dining experiences where patrons can eat inside of luxe garden domes built in the heart of Fish Creek Provincial Park, is taking place April 22 to May 22. This year, guests will enjoy a four-course gourmet dinner from chef Daryl as they immerse themselves in Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” or Picasso’s world of cubism. Domes are also available for private event bookings. Up to 14 climate-controlled domes with capacity of up to six adults each can be reserved for a total of 84 people per seating.
The Wedding Fair will hold a bridal show for exhibitors and brides on March 27 at the BMO Centre in Stampede Park. The fair will allow guests to compare, taste, touch and see what the area's top wedding specialists have to offer. An added touch? Guests will also experience a professionally choreographed fashion show displaying the latest wedding fashions.
OTTAWA: The 70th edition of the Canadian Tulip Festival will take place in person this spring after being held virtually in 2020 and 2021. The event includes a mixture of free and paid events, including nighttime free movie screenings with the National Film Board, daily tulip bingo, a nighttime guided tour and more. The event runs from May 13-23.
TORONTO: "Frida: Immersive Dream" is set to open on March 31 at Lighthouse Artspace Toronto at 1 Yonge Street. The space has been transformed into 500,000 cubic feet of exhibit space where state-of-the-art technology, including 1.2 million frames of video and 90 million pixels, transports guests into Frida Kahlo’s world. Tickets are $45.
VANCOUVER: Following a nearly three-year break during the pandemic, one of the country’s largest Super Smash Bros tournaments will return from June 10-12 on the UBC campus. The Battle of BC 4 event is hosted by UBC Esports and Galint Gaming and will feature competition for both Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Super Smash Bros. Melee; players will have a chance to qualify for the Smash World Tour Championship in December. :
