US: A New Entertainment District, GLAAD Media Awards, Skyline Orlando Lineup and More

DETROIT: Karen Totaro, the general manager for ASM Global, has named Freeman as the exclusive electric service provider for Detroit's Huntington Place convention center as of April 1. For almost a century, Freeman has been servicing trade shows, conferences and events across the country. 

LAS VEGAS: Oak View Group plans to open a new entertainment district in Las Vegas. Groundbreaking and construction for the estimated $3 billion entertainment district and arena are scheduled for 2023. The district's 25 acres will feature an 850,000-square-foot arena, a casino, a hotel and an additional entertainment venue amphitheater. 

LOS ANGELES: The 33rd annual GLAAD Media Awards honoring Michaela Jaé Rodriquez and Kacey Musgraves took place April 2 at the Beverly Hilton, and will host a second event in New York at the Hilton Midtown on May 6. The annual GLAAD Media Awards honor media for fair, accurate and inclusive representations of LGBTQ people and issues. 

ORLANDO/CENTRAL FLORIDA: Skyline Orlando has revealed the lineup of artists coming to its stages this May. On May 27-28, the Orlando Amphitheater at the Central Florida Fairgrounds will host three stages of house and techno music. A Tulum-inspired stage and two others with open-air beaches will set the scene for the Memorial Day Weekend affair. 

ST. LOUIS: Switch has welcomed a new director of business development, Tracey Koehler, and a new marketing manager, Kate Labbe. Koehler brings 15 years of experience in the meetings and events, digital marketing and field marketing industries, while Labbe brings experience in the world of digital marketing in various industries including legal, financial services, health care, sports, higher education and nonprofit.
