US: ASM Global Breaks National Records, Hawaii's New Open-Air Event Space, Constellation Culinary Group's Hospitality Partnership and More

NATIONAL: Over the span of four days, April 1-4, LA-based venue management and services company ASM Global set the record as the first venue management team to host both NCAA men’s and women’s college basketball finals in its New Orleans Superdome and Minneapolis Target Center. Attended by over 160,000 fans in both cities, ASM Global was selected by the NCAA to host a total of 32 preliminary rounds and championship games in Division I, II and III athletics over the next five years, a number that is unprecedented for a single-facility operator.

KAUA’I, HAWAII: Sheraton Kaua’i Coconut Beach Resort debuted Halau Ho’okipa, an open-air event pavilion, on the eastern most point on the Garden Island earlier this month. The 4,500-square-foot pavilion is now the largest beachfront open-air event space on Kaua'i. It fronts the ancient surfing grounds of the Royal Coconut Coast, boasts sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean and can accommodate up to 180 guests. The Sheraton property designed the Halau Ho’okipa for hotel guests to experience Hawaiian culture and is offering hula classes, luau performances and more.

MIAMI/SOUTH FLA.: The historic Sunset Lounge, the premier African-American entertainment venue of the South during the 1940s and 1950s, is being brought back to life through a $12.5 million renovation led and supported by the CRA/City of West Palm Beach. The CRA aims to complete the historic restoration of Sunset Lounge by the winter of 2022. It will feature a 150-seat bar, restaurant/supper club, state-of-the-art entertainment venue and a rooftop bar and patio, among other amenities. The CRA tapped award-winning and West Palm Beach-based design firm V Starr—led by famed tennis player, principal and CEO Venus Williams—to oversee its design. 

ORLANDO/CENTRAL FLA.: Constellation Culinary Group has announced a hospitality partnership with The Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee and its 28,000-square-foot Morganroth Event Center on the Larry and Mary Greenspon Family Campus for Jewish Life, slated to open summer 2023. The culinary group will serve as the exclusive caterer for the expansive space, which is located on a scenic 32-acre campus. It boasts reception space for up to 300 and a 100,000-square-foot ballroom that can accommodate as many as 1,000.

SAN FRANCISCO: Founder and CEO of Entire Productions (a San Francisco-based event production and design company) Natasha Miller released a book titled Relentless: Homeless Teen to Achieving The Entrepreneur Dream on March 22. To celebrate the book launch, Miller and her company produced two book events: the first, a dynamic, fast-paced summit inside Allseated’s metaverse platform, ExVo, where virtual attendees watched keynotes from athletes, entrepreneurs and thought leaders, including a special performance and presentation from Miller herself. The second: Celebrations continued at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art where Miller performed on stage for a live audience and programmed a presentation of Relentless, combining excerpts from the book and the songs she’s produced throughout her life.
